The Inhams, Bisbrooke, England, GB
To witches Blackthorn often represents the dark side of the craft. It is a sacred tree to the Dark, or Crone aspect of the Triple Goddess and represents the Waning and Dark Moons. Blackthorn is known as 'The Increaser and Keeper of dark secrets.
Blackthorn is seen as a sinister tree and associated with Witchcraft. Often used for 'binding and blasting'. In British folklore a Witch will use Blackthorn in rituals and cursing. The sharp thorns were reputedly used by witches to pierce poppets and called the 'pins of slumber' In South Devon Witches were said to carry Blackthorn walking sticks, with which they caused local mischief. Witches and heretics were burned on Blackthorn pyres - in Scotland Major Thomas Weir was burned as a witch with his Blackthorn staff carved with a Satyrs head.
Walking up the tarmac turn left along an avenue of Hawthorn and Ivy, then follow the footpath across open crop fields and into a woody, spooky lane coming out to Hawthorn on your left and Bramble to your right. Keep going passing many Blackthorn on the way. The tree you are looking for in on your right and the item is in the hollow base under it's own Blackthorn staff!
Known to locals as going across 'The Innhams' it is a lovely stroll popular with dog walkers which is why I think Toil has hidden himself and is in need of rescue. The walk is approximately 2k there and back. It gets windy crossing the fields and willy's are highly recommend as the track wet and muddy.

After snagging Trouble, it was on to Toil. I admit I drove to the other end of the road to park a bit closer and started heading towards the tag. It was only at this point I checked the actual tag page and I suddenly remembered which one it was, hard to forget the autocorrect! Now the realisation dawned that I didn't bring any wellies and but I did have a willy so should be fine 😂 It was a little windy walking along the track and extremely muddy then I reached the open field and the wind really hit me. It was constant all the way until I reached the treeline. The entire right side of my face was numb but I knew it'd get a break on the way back and I would have a matching feeling on the left side! Walking through the wooded area I thought I had missed it as I seemed to be walking for ages and then I came to a farm. The map said it was further so I plodded on with the picture of the tree on my screen and a few minutes later I was there. A quick search and the camo container was revealed. Once again, thank you. I made it back to the car in one piece and all was good in my world. |
