Andromeda had heard that Colchester Castle had a display on about Witchcraft and Wizardry so she decided to take a visit to see what it was about. She took to her broomstick, and encouraged her familiar, Toil, to hop on too, thinking it would be educational for him. She flew eastwards along the river Colne til the castle came into view whereby she swung a hard right. Unfortunately Toil wasn’t the best of broomstick companions and, due to the forces from the right turn, found himself being flung off the broomstick and tumbling to the ground.
He landed feet first (naturally) on the weir. It was a noisy place so his miaows calling to Andromeda were lost in the sounds of the rushing water. As all children are told, if you get separated from your parents, stay exactly where you are and they will come to find you, and so that is what Toil decided to do. He does see lots of muggles walk past but as none of them are looking for a tiny kitty, he is not spotted by anyone. He is waiting patiently, wrapped in white plastic tape, watching the metal fish dance along the railings and is looking forward to being found by someone who knows what they are doing.

We were round a friends having a belated new years celebration when we got the email through that toil had fallen from his broom. Luckily we were only round the corner and we rushed off to see if we could find toil. We headed towards the wier. When we heard the water rushing we knew we were close. We blocked out the noise of water and eventually heard tiny cat cries and we quickly found toil, he was very happy to see us and is very much looking forward to being reunited with andromeda. |
